     About the Club

     The Council Bluffs Unit was opened in 2009 and is located at the Charles E. Lakin Human Services Campus. The Club provides services to the 21 area schools located in Council Bluffs, with over 120 members per day. The Club is also a host site to a 21st Century Community Learning Center, which services nearly 60 members from Roosevelt Elementary school daily.
    The Club provides a multitude of programs that enrich the lives of the area youth. We provide a safe , stable environment to grow and become the leaders of tomorrow.

    Fifth Annual Nebraska Robotics Expo
    On Saturday, February 22, 2014, The Strategic Air & Space Museum hosted the Fifth Annual Nebraska Robotics Expo.  Over 1,000 K-12 Nebraska students, team leaders and math and science teachers gathered for this premier robotics event that brings together two robotics competitions under one roof, the CEENBoT Robotics Showcase and the FIRST LEGO League (FLL), for a day of robotics fun in a historical venue.     2013 Nebraska FIRST LEGO® Qualifying Tournament
    On Saturday, December 3, 2013 hundreds of youth from the metropolitan area competed in the 2013 Nature’s Fury™ Challenge, a FIRST LEGO® Robotics event held at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands’ North Omaha Unit. Brian Smith provided opening remarks. Teams demonstrated their problem-solving skills, creative thinking, teamwork, competitive play, and sportsmanship. Local university, community, nonprofit, and corporate professionals served as tournament judges and referees.

    2014 Midlands Youth of the Year
    This last Saturday, January 4th, six teen members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands (BGCM) participated in the annual Youth of the Year Competition. Candidates shared stories of attempted suicide, a gang related death of a friend, experiencing domestic abuse and how the support of their Club helped them to overcome and triumph over these experiences.     Monster Jam “Crush Bullying” Event in Council Bluffs
    On Thursday, January 2nd, the Boys & Girls Club of Council Bluffs hosted the Monster Jam “Crush Bullying” event where about 100 youths listened to riders on the Monster Jam circuit raise awareness about bullying and discuss prevention techniques.
