Southwest Iowa comes together for annual Trivia Night to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands

Twenty-five teams of up to eight brainiacs flexed their collective mental muscles at the Council Bluffs Country Club on Friday, Oct. 30 in the 4th Annual Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands’ “Trivia Buffs of the Bluffs” fundraising competition.  The evening got everyone’s neurons firing at top speed and provided a good-natured exercise in trivia one-upmanship.

This year, teams dressed up in their favorite Halloween costume and competed in a costume contest.  Coca-Cola Refreshments took home the prize for best costume with their entire team dressed up as pirates – Arghh!!

The evening kicked off with Nebraska’s and Iowa’s most rockin’ party polka duo, The Polka Police, along with a buffet-style dinner and cocktails.

Our celebrity guest host, Deanne Brink, KMTV’s morning anchor, took the teams through four rounds of trivia. The night also included a live and silent auction, as well as raise-the paddle.

There’s nothing trivial about the important cause this is all supporting.  This year’s event raised over $30,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands.

Our 2015 Trivia Champions are team name “Benny and the Jets.” Congratulations to all of this year’s participants!

You didn’t need to know the name of Luke Skywalker’s mother, the 7th wonder of the world, or Ronald Reagan’s birthplace.  Just remember the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands.

Thank you to this year’s presenting sponsors, First National Bank and Black Hills Energy.

My life and my family's foundation was established at the Boys Clubs back in the late 60's. My mother believed in what the Club meant in our lives and I will celebrate my 35th year in the Movement this year. I am so honored to have learned from the some of the best men around…Bill Hinckley, Tom Davis, Ike Snell, Dwight Day, Fred Schott, Don Preister, Maurice Lambert, Lonnie McIntosh, Walter Henderson, Wayne Houston and Bob Solonynka.
