Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands Launch New TMC STEM Lab Trailer
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands is excited to show off their brand new TMC Lab trailer!
The Clubs will expand their informal STEM learning opportunities in partnership with Beyond School Bells, to young people who may not have access to high quality STEM activities. Thanks to an in-kind donation of the Think, Make, Create (TMC) Lab, made possible by a donation from Big Red Keno and the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation. The TMC Lab is a unique mobile maker platform specifically designed to meet Nebraska’s under-and-unserved youth in informal STEM Expanded Learning Opportunities.
The TMC Lab is a 6×12 foot trailer that can easily be transported for use, using the Club’s STEM Van. The Club’s STEM/Innovation Center Director will use it at events to provide a way for young people to think, make and create. The interior of the trailer has been specifically designed to maximize storage of supplies and projects. TMC Labs are designed to be a low-cost entry point for Nebraska youth to tinker, explore and problem-solve while helping to promote long-term sustainability for high quality after-school and summer STEM programming.
Quality community-based STEM learning is inspiring, engaging and impactful for young people. Young people who have these experiences over time before entering high school are more likely to explore studies and careers in STEM.
