March 24, 2020

We are thinking about you right now; Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands’ members and their families.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands knows the impact of our Clubs being closed to members, especially around supper time. We want to help ensure our kids have a nutritious evening meal.

Parents can come to their designated Club pick up area between the hours of 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (or until supply of meals last) starting Wednesday, March 25, 2020 to pick up a carryout meal for kids. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR YOUR CLUB PICK UP AREA! Meals consist of a sandwich, fruit, chips, and a cookie. Evening meals will be provided Monday through Friday, and are for pick up only.

Sincerely,

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands

March 13, 2020

Due to the rapidly evolving health situation with COVID-19, and with the utmost concern for the safety and well-being of both our Club members and staff, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands (BGCM) has made the decision to close all Clubs and Offices. Effective Friday, March 13th, 2020, all Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands will be closed until further notice.

This decision is rooted in the fact that the health and well-being of our community is absolutely fundamental to our work and mission.

Although there has been no known exposure to individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 among members or our staff, we’re exercising an abundance of caution, particularly for those in our community who are most at risk or have limited access to healthcare.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

We look forward to working with your children in the very near future!

Sincerely,

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands

MMake yourself healthy meals to strengthen your immune system.

How to Quarantine the Boys & Girls Clubs Way!

As a child, you cheer for a snow day, but 14 “snow days” in a row can be tough! Don’t let the quarantine get the best of you. Here are a couple ideas you can do with your family to keep your bodies and minds moving:

-Take a virtual field trip! Museums, Zoos and many more places have opened their virtual doors to families! Check out this list of 20 different different trips you can do!

-Take online classes! Currently Scholastic is offering three hours of free classes each day for up to four weeks. The classes cover popular topics such as English, STEM, Science and Social Studies.

-Get your bodies moving with Yoga for the whole family! There is a plethora of beginner’s Yoga classes available on Youtube that your family could try.

-Have a paper airplane contest! See who’s plane can fly the farthest and see what construction you can do to make it fly even farther!

-Write a letter to someone special. If you don’t have anyone to write to, consider sending a letter to local nursing homes or a health care professional!

-Change up your meals! Picnic in the backyard or breakfast in bed could be an event for the whole family where everyone gets rewarded with a yummy meal.

…These ideas are endless! Enjoy some quarantine-safe fun!
